You probably think I'm referring to physical exercise but I'm actually referring to catching 60 minutes on television most Sunday evenings. I am a big fan of 60 minutes. You?
A few weeks ago 60 minutes paid tribute to an outstanding man/reporter/interviewer. Bob Simon. If you are part of the "I catch 60 minutes on Sunday" club then you know Bob sure had a way of bringing a light, compassion and a special awareness to every story he covered. He risked his life soooo many times to bring the world an important story that needed to be uncovered or told. He brought a voice to the unheard and had a heart for people in desperate need.
One of the stories that Bob Simon covered that really stuck out to me was about a land of nomads. There were a few words that this tribe didn't use in their day to day going ons.
One of the words they didn't use was... "WHEN" ... They had no understanding of time so they never asked ...when. The other word missing from their vocabulary was the word "WANT"... They gave. They took. Simple as that. No wanting. Time did not force them to rush around blindly, like it often does to us. The nomads had A positive perception on time that presented a beautiful posture of peace.
Ya see the nomads moved around slowly, breathed deeply AND smiled A LOT.... They didn't worry about the timing. As they were hungry they caught fish and then ate it that very day. They did not suffer the effects of time. It was so neat to watch their simplicity and then kinda contemplate on my own often unnecessary rushed pace. I was reminded once again of the joy of simplicity and walking with a posture of peace. ;)-
I felt a gentle nudge to slow down a bit, breathe a little deeper and smile a lot more....
Wisdom from the nomads. I dig how they do life.
Is your posture that of peace today? If not there is always time to change it. Specially if you haven't left the house yet.... baha ha ... no really though. Deep breaths. :)
Peace. It CAN be AS Contagious as JOY. Remember that. :):):)
